Lose Your Dreams & You Will Lose Your Mind
Ok, so sometimes Stones dreams do come true. In fact, many of mine have come true in the past 11 years...whether it was hard work, luck or a combination of both I will never know, but it's been worth it.

Another of my Stones dreams came true just yesterday, and it's too premature to announce here what it is...but you will know in a few days, so stay tuned!

New Stones Songs
I think sometimes people anticipate the new material from the Stones so much that they either end up being disappointed and hating all the new stuff...OR, loving it all, even if it's not that good.

I've heard mixed reactions on the new songs that were released this week: "Streets of Love" and "Rough Justice". I do like ballads, let me say that first off...but on first listen "Streets of Love" didn't catch me loving it. It reminded me too much of something off one of Mick's solo albums, too mainstream or popish...not Stonesy enough for me in the ballad department. Perhaps, as many say, it will grow on me.

On the other hand "Rough Justice" blew me away with the first few bars...it is a rocking track. Better than "Oh No Not You Again", which I liked as well. I think "Rough Justice" has some hit potential. Heavy Stones guitar work, which is always a seller for me.

We'll see what happens in the weeks to come since may radio stations only began playing "Rough Justice" a few days ago.

Can't wait to hear the rest of the album.

29 days until OPENING NIGHT-see YOU there!!!!

Bitch
Mood:  don't ask
Ever have one of those days, when everyone you talk to acts like an asshole and everything that happens sucks? This is one of those days. Luckily listening to Stripped 2 (bootleg) calmed me down a bit. Although the song Bitch wasn't on there, it particularly applied today. Ah well, better luck tomorrow I guess.

Not a Drag Getting Old After All...
Mood:  happy
This is a snippet from an online newspaper from Arkansas...

I do wonder if some of today's acts will have the staying power of The Rolling Stones, or Aerosmith, or Johnny Cash. Somehow I can't feature any of the Interchangeable Blondes (Britney, Christina, Jessica, Lindsey, et al) still touring in 40 years. Granted, modern science, plastic surgery and preservatives could keep them looking the same as they do now, but I just don't think they have the staying power.

Nor can I see acts such as System of the Down, Green Day, Justin Timberlake, Clay Aiken, 50 Cent, or any of the other acts-of-the-moment still performing in 2045. I can't see some of them still performing in 2010.

However, I do suspect we'll probably see another Rolling Stones tour in 2045. I can picture it now — Charlie Watts propped up behind his drums and occasionally dozing off, Ronnie Wood sitting on stage in a rocking chair and a pot-bellied Mick Jagger alternately sucking on an oxygen hose and holding himself up with a cane.

Keith Richards, meanwhile, will be standing there, perfectly preserved, cigarette hanging from his lips, looking much the same as he is now, the enigmatic, unchanging Sphinx of rock 'n' roll.

Damn right about Keith, and don't you forget it! He'll still be kicking ass!

Two Days Later & the Frenzy is Only Getting Worse!
Mood:  rushed
Two days have now passed since the Stones announced their new tour. People are just flipping mad with obtaining tickets. I have been getting tons of email per day that is really meant for RS.COM...people wanting to join there and emailing stonesplanet.com in confusion. I'm happy to re-direct, but I should collect a commission for everyone who buys a membership in their club!

I am slightly nervous, as I always am at ticket time. I don't have one single ticket yet. I do hope to get a pair to opening night soon...I already have my flight and hotel booked.

There are some great photos from the press conference floating around out there, check my front page for a great one of Keith. Also, video footage of the press conference is available and downloads of the new song "Oh No Not You Again", which I quite liked. The Today Show's Matt Lauer interviewed the boys and there are clips on their site...the whole interview can be seen on tomorrow's (Friday May 13) Today Show.

I wonder when the new merchandise will be rolled out?

Thank Goodness It's Official
Mood:  party time!
What a day! I went to work at my "real" job from 7:30-10:00am, then got off way early & came home and got onto the computer in preparation for today's Stones press conference. I didn't get off the computer and/or cell phone until 7pm! My phone rang incessantly and my emails flowed in...friends "in the know", friends at the press conference, friends wanting ticket tips. It was nerve wracking and fun all at the same time. By 4pm I need a beer and I had a balck & tan. Got Stones Planet's tour issue ready by 9:30pm...and now I think I am finally done. Now all I need are some damn tickets! Didn't use my presale passcode yet...but I do intend to be at opening night Aug. 21 in Boston..and also Chicago, Columbus, Toronto, Pittsburgh, Hershey, DC, Philly...and several more on the west coast! See ya on tour!

40 Years Ago Today Keith Had a Dream...
Mood:  cheeky
On May 6, 1965, guitarist Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones came up with the riff that formed the foundation of the song "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction.'' He was staying at a motel in Clearwater, Florida, at the time.
