Never A Better Time in My Hometown-Pittsburgh Rocked
Ok, so I danced like a fucking lunatic...I was 5th row center on the catwalk for Christ's sake what could I do? The boys loomed in front of me all night. We took over the VIP Lounge, we were the only ones there and it was a beautiful night by the river, what more could we want? We got "Rocks Off", "Wild Horses" with Eddie Veder, "Get Off my Could" and "Paint it Black". Smoking. B-stage front row Ronnie's side-guitar picks, thanks to TR. Lots of gifts were shelled out to the entourage as well. Hope ya'll like the rings and scarves boys. Keith wore my shirt I gave him in Toronto...and now his daughter Angela owns my shirt that matched Keiths. Happy 31st to Dominic by the way! So many stories, so little time. Look for the real review elsewhere here when my head stops spinning. Thank you Rolling Stones for another great Pittsburgh hometown show! And a special thanks and hello to Bill, in case he peeks in here ;-)

New Album and onto Chicago's Soldier Field
Mood:  celebratory
Well, I've been listening to "A Bigger Bang" for a about a week now...and loving it! This album is definitely the Stones getting back to their rock n' blues roots, with the guitars in the forefront.

Now playing "Biggest Mistake", which could have been an Alfie outtake for Mick, seeing as how the lyrics would fit the movie so well. My favorite tracks so far are "Back of My Hand", the sublime blues number with Mick playing some stellar slide guitar; "Rough Justice" for the true rock n' roll of it and the amusing lyrics; "It Won't Take Long", "Sweet Neo-Con" great harp, nevermind what the fuss is about; Keith's new heartfelt ballad "This Place Is Empty" and the Wino's-like "Infamy". So far the 4 tracks that were played "live" in concert so far have come off well, and there are plenty more to choose from.

Interestingly, I hadn't heard any of the new tracks on the radio locally yet! Until yesterday, when I finally caught "Streets Of Love".

Album is due Tuesday! And then you can play it LOUD! It's been getting mostly raves from the media, which is a breath of fresh air. It's being called the Stones best new album since Tattoo You certainly, or "Some Girls"...and some are stretching back as far as "Exile" only because "A Bigger Bang" has 16 tracks.

I am leaving Friday for Chicago and Saturday will be taking in the Soldier Field show. Look for a review here next week.

Off to Boston to Kick Off A Bigger Bang!
The time has finally come. Tomorrow morning I board a plane for Boston, MA. The Stones open the Bigger Bang Tour at Boston's Fenway Park on Sunday night. Weather calling for strong thunderstorms...let's hope it's earlier in the day and that all is clear by showtime.

Packing the suitcase, "Got my money, my ticket and all that shit, I even got a little shaving kit" remember that lyric?

Have heard "Rough Justice", "Oh No Not You Again", "Back of My Hand" and "Infamy" all live in Toronto, and have heard full versions of "Streets Of Love", "It Won't Take Long" and "This Place is Empty" online...plus clips of all the rest. Everything sounds so fucking fantastic, back to the raw rock n' roll Stones without all the bells & whistles. Album comes out on Sept. 6.

Media is having a frenzy in Boston...boys are on the cover of all major newspaper, including USA Today. Finally getting the GOOD press they deserve!

Stay tuned for a review upon my return home Monday night. Shows secheduled so far this tour:

1)Boston opening night
2)Chicago Soldier Field
3)Toronto Rogers Centre
4)Pittsburgh PNC Park
5)Hershey Park Stadium
6)Washington DC, MCI Center
7 & 8)Philly Wachovia Center (both shows)
9 & 10)LA Hollywood Bowl (both shows)
10 & 12)San Francisco SBC Park (both shows)

Lose Your Dreams & You Will Lose Your Mind
Ok, so sometimes Stones dreams do come true. In fact, many of mine have come true in the past 11 years...whether it was hard work, luck or a combination of both I will never know, but it's been worth it.

Another of my Stones dreams came true just yesterday, and it's too premature to announce here what it is...but you will know in a few days, so stay tuned!

New Stones Songs
I think sometimes people anticipate the new material from the Stones so much that they either end up being disappointed and hating all the new stuff...OR, loving it all, even if it's not that good.

I've heard mixed reactions on the new songs that were released this week: "Streets of Love" and "Rough Justice". I do like ballads, let me say that first off...but on first listen "Streets of Love" didn't catch me loving it. It reminded me too much of something off one of Mick's solo albums, too mainstream or popish...not Stonesy enough for me in the ballad department. Perhaps, as many say, it will grow on me.

On the other hand "Rough Justice" blew me away with the first few bars...it is a rocking track. Better than "Oh No Not You Again", which I liked as well. I think "Rough Justice" has some hit potential. Heavy Stones guitar work, which is always a seller for me.

We'll see what happens in the weeks to come since may radio stations only began playing "Rough Justice" a few days ago.

Can't wait to hear the rest of the album.

29 days until OPENING NIGHT-see YOU there!!!!
